Home security is one of the primary concerns of every homeowner. It should be. Whether you live in a house or in an apartment, your home should be protected for your safety, your family\u2019s, and for your belongings that you\u2019ve worked so hard for. Even if you live in a peaceful neighborhood with good public safety agencies, like the police and law enforcement, you can not solely rely on them for your home security. There many more houses than there are police officers and you can not expect them to guard your house 24 hours a day. It is your duty to make your home safe from thieves and criminals, so don’t delegate its safety to other people.<\/p>\n

Most people think of high tech CCTV residential security cameras and other high tech alarms and security systems when talking about home security. Well you can have those by all means if you want. But there are other options of protecting your homes without spending a fortune. You may not even need these expensive high tech devices depending on how much you want to know about what goes on around your home.<\/p>\n

House burglars or thieves can be thwarted if you know how to employ simple and practical home security precautions. Here are some tips on how to make your homes secured the easy way:<\/p>\n

  1. If you plan to go out of the house even just for a while, lock your house. Many thieves just walk in to an open door and make a quick work in your homes.<\/li>\n
  2. If you just bought a new house from the market or just moved in on a new apartment, change every lock and tumblers just to be sure that you are the only one who has the keys to your home.
    \nConceal all the wiring of your alarm system if you have them installed. If the wires are exposed, the thieves will just cut the wires to disable the alarms.<\/li>\n
  3. Change your locks immediately if you lose your keys for them. It will be much safer to have a locksmith make you another set of keys for them.<\/li>\n
  4. Think like a thief and think on how you can rob your own house. This will help you discover any weak spots in your home security. You can then make changes to it.<\/li>\n
  5. Do not hide spare keys under the backdoor mat, or in the mailbox, or in the fourth flower pot. These places are no longer \u201csecret\u201d and even thieves use this kind of hiding spots for their keys. Think of a more creative place to them.<\/li>\n
  6. Fix faulty alarm systems immediately then notify your neighbors that it has been fixed. Most neighbors will just ignore an alarm that goes off all the time.<\/li>\n
  7. Do not just let any person in your homes; ask for credentials and identification cards from salesmen and other people who would like to do an unexpected business inside your house. Thieves like to scout out your home first by posing as salesmen or utility workers.<\/li>\n
  8. Get a deadbolt lock. This will make your door harder to break in to, unless the thief is carrying a hacksaw or a power tool which isn\u2019t likely.<\/li>\n
  9. Make sure that before you hire a house cleaner that he\/she is honest and reputable. Check her credentials and work history. If the house cleaner came from an agency, check the agencies history.<\/li>\n
  10. Avoid leaving notes and messages for your family members at your door; it\u2019s like announcing that there is no one inside the house if anyone calls.<\/li>\n
  11. Make sure all the entrances to your house are properly lighted and are in clear sight. Thieves do not like to be observed when at work.<\/li>\n
  12. Check for areas in your property where a thief can gain entrance unnoticed, like a tree near your balcony or upper rooms, or high shrubs to conceal themselves.<\/li>\n
  13. Organize a watch in your neighborhood or just simply agree to look out for each others property for any suspicious looking character lurking around the neighborhood.<\/li>\n
  14. Make sure your door and windows are in good shape, make repairs if not.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    By following these simple tips on home security, you will have a less chance of being robbed. Remember that thieves do not like attention and they like to work silently. Anything in your house that can give them away will surely deter them and make them think twice before attempting to break in your house.<\/p>\n
