With all the modern day gadgets we plug in to our electrical outlets, its hard to imagine going more than one our on any given day without using electricity. Although, electricity is generally safe, it can create potentially deadly conditions.<\/p>\n

\u00a0There are a few things you can check on to prevent a potential fire from your electrical outlets.<\/p>\n

You should always make sure that the cord you are plugging into the electrical outlet is in good condition. Frayed, damaged, or modified electrical cords can be a big factor when it comes to a potential house fire.<\/p>\n

Always pull out the cord from the plug itself and not by tugging on the cord from a distance. Pulling a cord in this way can cause damage inside than can potentially cause sparks and\/or serious burns.<\/p>\n

Do not plug too many things in. You should really only plug in what you are using and unplug things after you are done. An overloaded electrical outlet can short our or catch on fire. Use your toaster, coffee maker and other kitchen counter appliances the way you would use an electric kettle. Only plug them in when you are using them.<\/p>\n

Be wary of extension cords as tripping hazards. As well, you should not use 2 extension cords together. Get the proper length in one single cord.<\/p>\n

If you make these simple rules part of your regular routine you should greatly reduce the chance of a fire coming from your electrical outlet.<\/p>\n
