How to use a Bug Detector and Hidden Camera RF Finder

Privacy Theft is on the rise these days partially due to the lower cost of private detective equipment as well as the move from theft in the physical world to electronic thefts like your identity, or the video theft of your privacy.

Bug detectors can not only prevent people from spying on you, they can also prevent identity theft, and a listening device or spying gadget can be used to record your voice giving anything from verbal passwords over the phone, to confidential company data.

Either way, to prevent this intrusion you need to know a little bit about using a bug detector.

How to use a Bug Detector

  1. Turn the bug detector a few feet away from any RF signals
  2. Adjust the sensitivity so that the reading in on the first led bar
  3. If you have a phone, leave it off and bring it close to the bug detector
  4. Turn the phone on and make a call with it to see how the bug detector reacts to the phone.
  5. If the bug detector has a look though spy hole you can then attempt to find a camera you already know is there (cell phone camera, web cam etc) by looking through the red circle and looking for a “red dot”

Once you get a feel for how it works, sweeping your home or hotel room will be easier.  Make sure the sensitivity is adjusted to your distance.

Also, its a good idea to use your RF signal finder on “vibrate” over “sound” if your bug detector has the option since someone listening may turn off their listening device if they hear your bug detector beeping
